AKATEA TRADITIONAL BRIE
Our Kāpiti Akatea Traditional Brie has a rich silken texture with subtle blooming earthy flavours, characteristic of a traditional creamy brie. Akatea is the name of the white rātā vine which has white fluffy flowers resembling the snowy rind on the outside of this cheese that develops while ripening.
Gold medal winner at the 2019 NZ Cheese Awards, this is a crowd pleasure on any cheeseboard. If you’re looking for an adventurous pairing try with the juicy, jammy flavours of tart raspberries. Serve with crisp crackers and a cheeky glass of Rosé to evoke flavours of berries & cream.
Best Served At
Serve at room temperature to allow the cheese’s full flavour, aroma and texture to bloom. Remove the cheese from the fridge, place on the platter or board, then cover with a clean damp cloth an hour before serving.
