Our Kāpiti Kōwhai Gruyere has a sweet, wine-like aroma. Smooth in texture with a mild nutty flavour the swiss-style cheese creates a mild gas when crafted, causing the small holes to appear in the cheese, often known as eyes. It is named after the beautiful Kōwhai tree that has yellow flowers that are reminiscent of the colour of this gorgeous cheese.
Our Kōwhai Gruyere is a perfect melting cheese and is glorious in cheese fondue, Croque monsieur or a good ol' toastie. It's also delicious on a cheeseboard paired with nuts, fresh or dried fruit and chutneys.
